Business day calculator for real deadlines

Use this workday calculator when you need to count business days between two dates, add working days to a start date, or subtract business days from a deadline. The result updates for weekends and the selected holiday calendar.

Common workday calculations

  • Count working days between contract, invoice, payroll, or delivery dates.
  • Add 5, 10, 30, or 45 business days to a project start date.
  • Subtract business days from a filing, review, or launch deadline.
  • Compare calendar days, weekdays, weekends, and holiday-adjusted business days in one view.

US federal holidays and UK bank holidays

Select United States for the recurring federal holiday calendar, or United Kingdom for bank holidays in England and Wales. The UK calculator does not cover Scotland, Northern Ireland, or one-off holidays, so check an official calendar when those dates affect a deadline.

Workflow ideas

  • Attach a deep link to SOWs so clients can see exactly how many working days span a milestone.
  • Embed the business-day offset in incident runbooks to forecast postmortem due dates.
  • Share upcoming holiday lists during handoffs so teams see when coverage gaps might occur.

Business day calculator FAQs

What counts as a business day?

A business day is Monday through Friday, excluding holidays in the selected calendar. Choose US federal holidays or UK bank holidays for England and Wales before reading the result.

Are the start and end dates included?

The business-days-between-dates result counts both the start and end date when either is an eligible business day. The calendar span also shows a separate inclusive total so the convention is clear.

Can I add or subtract working days from a date?

Yes. Enter a positive number to add business days or a negative number to subtract them. The resulting date skips weekends and holidays in the selected calendar.

Which UK bank holidays are included?

The UK option follows the standard England and Wales calendar, including New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, the May and summer bank holidays, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. One-off bank holidays and the Scotland and Northern Ireland calendars are not included.
